The Spanish vihuela or "viola da mano", a guitar-like gizmo of the 15th and 16th centuries is, due to its many similarities, above all considered the immediate ancestor of the modern guitar. It had lute-style tuning and a guitar-like body. Its construction had as much in common with the contempo guitar as with its contemporary four-course renaissance guitar.
The smaller the fretboard radius, the extended noticeably declinate the fretboard is. Most fresh guitars gimmick a 12" neck radius, while older guitars Click Here from the '60's and '70's frequently detail a 6" â 8" neck radius. Pinching a string against the fretboard effectively shortens the vibrating length of the string, producing a higher pitch. Fretboards are most commonly imaginary of rosewood, ebony, maple, and sometimes manufactured or composite materials such as HPL or resin.
